Wegovy tablets vs Mounjaro: pill or weekly injection?

Wegovy tablets contain semaglutide and are taken once daily on an empty stomach. Mounjaro contains tirzepatide and is injected once a week. The two have never been compared head to head, so the choice usually comes down to which routine you can keep up, what else you take and what the NHS will fund.
Switching between Mounjaro injections and the Wegovy pill

You can switch between Mounjaro injections and the Wegovy pill, but not dose-for-dose. A prescriber restarts you at a low dose of the new medicine, usually seven days after your last Mounjaro injection or the day after your last tablet, then builds the dose back up over several weeks. Expect appetite control to dip during the changeover.
Mounjaro side effects: what is normal and what is not

Most Mounjaro side effects are digestive, mild, and worst in the week after a dose increase. Nausea affects around 18% of people in trials, diarrhoea around 15% and constipation around 12%. Severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, or signs of dehydration are not normal and need same-day clinical advice.
How much protein do you need on weight loss treatment?

Aim for roughly 1.2 to 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of your target body weight each day while losing weight on GLP-1 treatment. Without it, a significant share of the weight you lose can come from muscle rather than fat, which lowers your metabolic rate and makes the weight easier to regain.
